The Sagittarian's long awaited debut album hits shelves March 29th. Its features 12 tracks produced over the last decade including his biggest hit to date "Liferider".

The Sagittarian uses a wide range of influences from the likes of Moby, Fatboyslim, Engima and Empire of the Sun. His sound has been described as a fresh new mix of techno/experimental and pop with uplifting messages and lyrics. New songs include "Illumination", an exotic trance/pop crossover with a vibe reminiscent of Moby's early releases. Dance tracks include the fun and creative "Gypsy" (I made a sexy time) and the more pop friendly "Lump of Love" which could be described as Eiffel 65's next hit.

Tohu, is a collection of 12 songs Maisey has written over the past decade. These originals include tracks such as "Ladeda Day", "Omaio" and "Untouchable". Some of these are the very first songs written by Maisey, chosen to illustrate her unique songwriting.

This collection explores many different arrangement styles. The ancestral sounds of traditional Maori instruments have been used along side energetic guitars, drums, animated horn sections and pure string sections.

This debut solo release from New Zealand singer songwriter Maisey Rika is a six-track EP. Although backed by a full band, the key collaborator is her brother jj. Rika's acoustic-based sound and compelling vocals are at times haunting, revealing a genuine sense of melody.

All six tracks have their charm. Reconnect is her first single (and the video is gorgeous). Letting Go is very likable and ought to be heard on the radio - the chorus oozes hit quality.

Elsewhere there's the stirring Children of Romania and the quirky Scouting Polka with cheeky Lily Allen-like vocals. Interesting phrasing and prominent te reo elements are more ticks for Rika. - Shaun Chait (parts from review in NZ Musician Magazine)
